Sources, license and limitations for the HackerTube public dataset used by this independent site.

This preview uses the HackerTube public video export dated October 31, 2026, and its topic taxonomy. The full source export lists 6,454 videos and 39,834 labeled Hacker News mentions; this site ships the video catalog and per-video recommendation summaries.

The original export is derived from the open-index/hacker-news archive. It is released under ODC-By 1.0. Reuse requires crediting HackerTube and open-index/hacker-news. Individual comments remain the work of their authors.

What this site includes

The initial site uses the 6,454-video export dated 2026-10-31, including titles, channels, summaries, topic labels, recommendation counts and one source quote per video where available. It does not redistribute the full mentions file.

Limitations

The export does not include YouTube descriptions, view counts, durations or publish dates. This site does not invent those values. Playback is embedded from YouTube, which controls its player, cookies and ads.

Hacker News comments remain the work of their authors. Quote excerpts link to the original discussion.
